DUBAI – Dubai’s road network is set for a fresh round of upgrades as Roads and Transport Authority continues its June 2026 infrastructure drive across the emirate.

The programme focuses on easing congestion, improving traffic distribution and enhancing safety across key commuting corridors.

A series of new lanes, intersection adjustments and connecting roads are scheduled throughout the month. The works form part of a wider effort to strengthen mobility across residential, commercial and highway routes.

Key corridor upgrades

One of the most significant updates is on Sheikh Zayed Road, where a new lane is being added for traffic joining from Hessa Street towards Abu Dhabi. The enhancement targets one of the city’s busiest outbound routes, designed to improve flow during peak commuting hours.

The authority says the adjustment will help increase capacity and reduce bottlenecks on a critical stretch linking central Dubai with inter-emirate travel routes.

Junction enhancements

Further works are scheduled for June 12 at the intersection of Trade Centre Street and Marasi Drive, alongside improvements to the service road at the junction of Airport Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. These upgrades aim to streamline turning movements and reduce delays at high-volume junctions, particularly during morning and evening peaks.

Traffic signal efficiency and lane discipline are also expected to improve as part of the redesign.

New connectors

On June 28, a new connecting road between Emirates Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street is set to open, improving access to Villanova and Arabian Ranches III.

Another link between Al Qudra Road and Hessa Street, running between Dubai Studio City and Motor City, is also scheduled on the same date, strengthening cross-community travel routes across key residential zones such as Arabian Ranches III and Motor City.

Late June works

By June 30, additional improvements will be implemented on Latifa bint Hamdan Street, including a new lane and upgraded U-turn movements in both directions.

The changes are expected to support smoother local circulation and better traffic distribution across surrounding districts, with adjustments designed to accommodate growing residential and commercial movement patterns.
